Among the initiatives proposed for 2007, Year of Science, was the connecting of the museums of science and technology existing in Spain. To build a national network of museums could boost the existing initiatives, creating, in turn, new popular science museum projects were non existed.
The Ministry of Education and Science tried to provide this network with legal personality, for which was established a state public sector foundation: National Museum of Science and Technology Foundation. Thus, it was allowed, taking advantage of these year's boost, to continue in the future with the objective of popularization of science.
